D. Brown Fisher’s Blood on the Take

Speedy Sparks - (Bass Guitar: all tracks)
In his many years backing some of the biggest in Rock & Roll music, Speedy has toured the world performing and has recorded and produced on many projects. His solid tone and smooth walkings are his greatest talents and you can hear them on every track.

Michael Hale - (Drums: tracks 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11)
From jazz to funk to hip-hop to rock & roll, this multi-talented drummer has played in bands of every variety. His solid groove and expressive style open the door for a funkier Fisher. Check out Man in the Morning, a great rocker with his drums out front. You can hear why Sparks and Hale are Fisher's live performance rhythm section for the last few years.

Michael "Lefty" Lefkowitz - (Drums: tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 12; Shaker: tracks 5, 12)
The human metronome, Lefty drives a song from the drums by creating a deep, effortless pocket. Subtle rolls and tight rhythms, he creates the space and time for everyone to shine. A great session drummer and live monster on the kit, ... he's doing some serious shaking on the Let Freedom Ring tracks.

Ephraim Owens - (Trumpet: tracks 2, 6, 11)
His tactful and sincere tones, always recognizable, shine on any track, never overshadowing other instruments. A session performer in great demand and virtuoso live improviser and composer, Owens creates the acoustic visuals that Fisher's songs possess. The muted trumpet work on Land Ho is a tribute to his talents.

Wayne Sutton - (Electric Guitar: tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 12)
One of the best guitar players, live or in the studio, is Sutton. His mastery and emotion are obvious whether he's playing lead or supporting rhythm. Have a listen to This or That, the whole ending is pure Sutton. He literally rips the air and pulls every sonic tone into his control. The depth of his sound is astounding and worth every listen to the track, If I Only Knew.

Carolyn Wonderland - (Electric Guitar: tracks 1, 2, 5, 10; Lap Slide Guitar: tracks 3, 6)
A blues funky junky, her signature style and sound is unmistakable. The first track captures it beautifully. A powerhouse vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, her lap slide work on tracks 3 and 6 are a rare chance to hear her recorded in the studio on this instrument. Her intertwined leads with Sutton on Let Freedom Ring (track 5) are diamond tight.

Ron Sio - (Electric Guitar: tracks 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11)
Ron Sio is a texture king and his volume control is signature. His unique, subtle styling supports the vocals and creates that audio-visual soundscaping inherent in Fisher's songs. Check out his work on When is it Lord and Land Ho, both great examples of his subtleties.

Preston Dukes - (Electric Guitar: tracks 7, 8)
His raging guitar work on One in the Cell is righteous. Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Dukes is the rare bonus for Fisher's music, and when D. first heard him playing in the studio, he immediately decided to put him on the album. When you hear his guitar work on these two tracks, you'll understand why he'll be all over the next album.

Tim Bond - (Keys: tracks 2, 6, 7, 9: Accordion and Tenor Banjo: track 11)
Bond is a talented man! Land Ho is a brilliant testament to his many talents. Check out his sublime organ and piano tracks, where his tastefulness solidifies the rhythms and the sonic intensity. He carries that same spirit from the musical side to the production side. Fisher found a perfect collaborator in Bond for this project.

Devin Fisher - supplied the audio clip of the jailhouse door ending the song, Man in the Morning.

Background Vocals - (track 9 - Fisher; track 11 - Fisher, Dukes, Bond)
